Introducing Starhold.

Amorphic Digital is expanding beyond forms. Today we’re announcing Starhold, a browser-based real-time strategy game and our first venture into games.

Why a game, why now

We’ve spent the last few years building tools: NodumForms for form builders, Clancy for eco-conscious search. Starhold is a different kind of product, something built for its own sake, for players who want a real-time strategy experience without downloading a client or waiting on a launcher. Just a browser tab and a game.

What is Starhold?

Starhold is a real-time strategy game set on hex-based terrain, where players manage an economy, build an army and fight for control of the map. It’s designed from the ground up to run in a browser tab with no installs, while still delivering the depth of a proper RTS: a full unit roster, resource management and tactical combat across four distinct game modes.

01 · Terrain

Hex-based maps

Every battle plays out on a hex grid, giving positioning and terrain real tactical weight instead of the abstracted movement typical of browser games.

02 · Forces

A full unit roster

Units with distinct roles, built for counters and combined-arms play rather than one dominant strategy.

03 · Economy

A real economy

Resource management sits at the centre of the game, so build orders and expansion timing matter as much as combat itself.

04 · Modes

Four game modes

From quick skirmishes to longer-form matches, Starhold supports different ways of playing, not just one ranked ladder.

A proper RTS, with a full unit roster and a real economy, that runs in nothing more than a browser tab.

Built to run anywhere

Starhold is built on Three.js and React Three Fiber for real-time 3D rendering directly in the browser, with Colyseus powering multiplayer game state and synchronisation. Supabase handles accounts and persistence, and the game is deployed on Railway and Fly.io, a stack chosen to keep the game fast, responsive and easy to scale as the player base grows.

What’s next

Starhold is in active development. We’ll be sharing more as we get closer to a playable build, including early access details for players who want to be first through the gates.
